FooGallery has undergone some major updates! Whether you’ve used FooGallery before, or are a new user, you can look forward to some awesome new developments. Here’s a look at what you can expect, coming very soon.
One of the biggest changes comes in the form of a major speed boost. Galleries now support lazy loading. This basically means that gallery images/thumbs will only be loaded when they are visible by the user. This improves your page load times and cuts down on the data or bandwidth for users, giving them a more optimum user experience. Very large galleries now load almost instantly. And the best part is you do not need to even turn this on. All the bundled gallery templates will support lazy loading and they will work out of the box with no changes needed on your end.
Gallery Previews (Live!)
Another big development in the latest FooGallery update is the gallery live preview, which is available when editing the gallery. This nifty addition means you can see what your gallery will look like, as you adjust the settings, with no need for a refresh! So if you’re fine-tuning your spacing or adjusting your hover effects, you’ll be able to see exactly what it would look like on the front-end before you publish. This will save you time and frustration, as you won’t have to keep going back to the page or post where it is embedded, to see how it would look.
FooGallery Settings Overhaul
The FooGallery settings have undergone a major UI overhaul, and we think you’ll like what you see. We have introduced a settings tab structure down the left hand side, that groups similar settings together. This stops you from having to scroll and scroll down the page to get to certain settings.
In previous versions, only the default responsive gallery used to have customizable appearance, hover effects and caption support. No longer! The new FooGallery adds a range of common settings across all bundled gallery templates. Here’s a look at some of the settings you’ll now have access to, that we know you will love:
The appearance of your thumbnails is an important part of your site. FooGallery understands this and gives you an impressive range of options. From borders and shadowing to loading icons and effects, you’ll be able to tweak your thumbnail appearance to ensure it’s the perfect fit for you and your site.
Thumbnail hover effects is what sets your website’s galleries apart from the rest out there. These versatile settings let you adjust not only the effect (from colorizing or scaling up) but also give you a choice of hover icons. You even have a choice of transition effects for how your captions are displayed.
Captions, titles, descriptions and alt text play an important role in your media galleries. These can provide your users with essential information or helpful tips; but only if they’re displayed correctly. Now they can be.
This latest FooGallery update allows you to change the source of your thumbnail captions per gallery. This used to be a global setting before, so now you have more flexibility.
Last, but definitely not least, the update sees the introduction to paging. This new feature is particularly useful for galleries with a large number of images. You can also determine the number of images you want displayed at a time.
When is the Question?
The new version of FooGallery is going through some final testing at the moment and will hopefully be available early November 2017. That is just around the corner!
Following closely on from this, FooGallery Pro will be releasing soon. This new version will bring with it more templates, more settings and increased functionality. We are so excited to finally bring you a PRO version of the best gallery plugin available for WordPress, and we really think you will love the PRO version when it drops in the next couple of weeks.
Keep an eye on FooPlugins and Facebook to make sure you know when the latest FooGallery update and FooGallery Pro versions are available. In the meantime, here’s a look at just how awesome this update will be.
