The FooBot takes another WordPress developer to town, but this time it’s our old friend and security expert Chris Wiegman of iThemes.
Wiegman built iThemes Security back in 2010 and called it “Better WP Security”. As many plugins on the Repo, Wiegman built it out of the need to better serve his clients. He found himself doing the same security tasks in every WordPress install and knew there had to be a better way to make his sites really secure without having to jump through a lot of hoops every time.
The thing is, A LOT of others felt exactly the same. And to date, the number of websites secured with iThemes Security is rapidly approaching 3 Million! Yes, with an “M”.
The needs of all those people using Wiegman’s plugin quickly became far more than he could handle. He wrote a great post on his blog about the “growing pains” of Better WP Security and how and why he sought a strong company like iThemes to buy it and his own talent.
The FooBot Interviews Chris Wiegman of iThemes Security
But all of this fame and fortune means very little to the FooBot. I mean, after all, an infinite amount of fame and success doesn’t equal the pinky finger power of the FooBot. Watch the whole interview to hear FooBot’s assesment of the security features behind iThemes Security Pro and the free version as well.
